What is a Homegrown Child?
A Homegrown Child is just the latest in a string of my blogs that I have started in the last year. I have my family blog, which is dedicated to my personal journaling. I have my Business blogs where I document what is going on in my businesses. I have my diet blog, which to be honest doesn't get too much attention. And now I have started my Homegrown Child blog.
So what is a Homegrown child? Well, to different people it probably means different things. But this is what a Homegrown Child is to me. A Homegrown Child is a child that is reared at home, taught at home, nourished at home, and loved at home. A child that is nourished by their parents, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Homegrown Children are not left to be raised by the government or the world. They are taught in their own learning style and at their own pace. They are steered in the right way and encouraged to do their best, without being pushed into societies constraints. They are positively reinforced to do what is right and are given choices and consequences for their actions.
Homegrown Children are nourished with wholesome foods that are full of vitamins, minerals, favor and fun. They are keep away from processed foods, overly salted or over fatty foods that are health harming. They are taught to grow food in a garden and how to cook and prepare foods for themselves.
Homegrown Children are educated at home by parents who love and support them. Being taught in a way that is most conducive to their learning style and the beliefs of their family. They are given many opportunities to learn in everyday life and through everyday living. They are taught the life skills needed to be a well rounded adult. They are given every opportunity to pursue their dreams. They learn daily about the Lord and the world around them. From the physical aspects, to the things that make the world go round. They are read to daily, and learn to love learning and reading and discovering things for themselves.
They are given respect and in return are taught to respect others. They are taught to love each other and to work together as a family unit for the benefit of everyone. They are given rules to govern themselves so that they can learn boundaries and limitations. But are given the freedom to make choices for themselves and then in return are given choices and then consequences for their choices.
All in all, Homegrown Children are surrounded by loving attentive family members who give them the best possible opportunities to become anything they want to be. They are encouraged, nourished and loved in every way that they possibly can be.
